They say there's a man in Tohjo Falls who's been training to one day measure up against the boy who once defeated him in battle; that's what they tell him, at least, when he asks, in few words and many gestures, his cap hanging down over his face.
It's not quite there that he finds him, after years they both spent hidden away from the world, but that doesn't matter to either of them, or if it does, it's just one more thing they can resent the other for.
Giovanni's detached smirk upon seeing him is just another mask he wears, Red knows, just like he knows none of what's between them will ever be easy; his dreams of easy love are far behind him, anyway.
